Why We Built This 1-on-1 Program
Every child has a different way of learning. Some kids do best in group settings, where the interaction pushes them to speak and participate. Others gain more when they receive undivided attention from a teacher who can slow down, explain more, or focus on specific needs.
At Little Owls, we already keep group classes small — only four students per session — so children get plenty of time to practice. But over time, we saw that some students needed even more flexibility.
Our regular program follows the Little Owls curriculum, which ensures steady progress along a structured path.
However, about half of our students are also enrolled in Mandarin classes at their Chinese schools. This overlap often creates a unique challenge, since kids sometimes need to prepare for a school exam or get help with a specific homework assignment.
We’ve also had parents ask if they could request specific focus areas, like instructing our teacher to review speaking practice more often, or to go over a lesson from school in greater detail.
While that’s absolutely possible in theory, it’s often difficult in a group setting. Other students in the same class may still be catching up on the previous lesson or may not be yet ready to move forward.
Put simply, with a group structure, there’s simply less room to pause and focus on those immediate needs without disrupting the flow for everyone else.
That’s precisely where personalized sessions come in.
By shifting to a one-on-one format, the teacher can dedicate the entire session to your child’s needs. And the result of this would be that there’s no need to wait for others or take detours from the group lesson.
It’s still the Mandarin program Little Owls is known for, but more focused and more adaptable.
How Little Owls’ Personalized Classes Work
To make sure every child has enough time to learn without feeling rushed, each session (again, much like our flagship program) lasts 45–60 minutes.
And parents can also choose how often their child attends:
- As-Needed Packages – 1, 5, or 10 sessions, valid for 30 days. This is perfect if your child just needs short-term support for homework or exams.
- Subscription Plans – 2, 5, or 10 sessions per month. These are ideal for families who want continuous, consistent support every month.
These personalized sessions can be taken alongside our group classes, so your child still enjoys peer interaction while accelerating their progress by up to 90%.

When you enroll in our 12-month program, your child also gets access to OWLS (Owlets’ Weekly Learning Session) for ages below 7, and a weekly writing class through QUILL.
