Frequently Asked Questions

How long are your classes?
Our classes typically last between 45 to 60 minutes.

How many students are there per class?
Our group classes are small, with up to 4 students per class, so every child gets personal attention.

How frequent are your classes?
Students can attend one to two classes per week, depending on their preference and schedule.

How long can my child stay in your program?
This depends on your child’s learning goals. We offer flexible subscription plans, including monthly, quarterly, and annual options.

How long will it take to see results?
Results vary from student to student based on their learning needs, pace, and practice habits. Achieving fluency, especially if Mandarin isnโ€™t practiced at home, requires consistent exposure. We recommend maximizing language practice to see noticeable improvements in conversation and writing skills.

Are your classes conducted online?
Yes, all our classes are currently held online.

Do you provide learning materials?
Yes, we offer a variety of digital resources, including activities, worksheets, and assessments, to support your child’s learning.

Does my child need prior knowledge of Mandarin before enrolling?
No prior experience is necessary. Our program is designed to accommodate beginners and starts with foundational Mandarin concepts.

Can you customize your lessons?
We follow a structured curriculum to ensure comprehensive learning. However, if your child requires additional support with their Chinese school homework, we can assist. Please note that extensive customization may require scheduling extra sessions to avoid disrupting other students’ progress.

What ages do you teach?
We teach children ages 3 to 15. Students are grouped by age and level so lessons match how they learn.

Do you offer a trial class?
Yes. A trial class costs P599 and lets your child experience a real lesson before you enroll. See how to book a trial class.

How much are your classes?
Once-a-week group classes are โ‚ฑ6,997 for one month, or โ‚ฑ4,297 per month on a 3-month plan and โ‚ฑ3,497 per month on a 12-month plan. Twice-a-week classes and 1-on-1 tutoring are priced separately. Current prices for all programs are on our Programs page.

What does your curriculum cover?
The Little Owls curriculum builds listening, speaking, reading, and writing through vocabulary, speaking drills, games, and situational conversation, so children use Mandarin in real situations and not only memorize it.

Do you teach simplified or traditional characters?
Our regular group classes teach simplified characters with pinyin. If your childโ€™s school uses traditional characters or zhuyin, our 1-on-1 tutoring can be matched with a teacher who handles them. Tell us what the school uses when you enquire.

Should my child take group classes or 1-on-1 tutoring?
Group classes suit children who learn well with classmates and benefit from conversation practice. 1-on-1 tutoring is better for a school exam, catching up to a grade level, or a customized pace. Some families combine both.

Who are your teachers?
Our teachers are fluent, experienced Mandarin speakers who are trained to engage young learners and keep online lessons lively.

What happens if my child misses a class?
Please tell us at least one day ahead if your child will be absent. You can request a recording before the class starts so your child can review the lesson afterward. If you prefer a live make-up session, one can be arranged for โ‚ฑ1,000 per class. A missed class still counts against your subscription.

What if Little Owls cancels a class?
If we cancel a class because of a scheduling error or a technical issue on our side, we arrange a free make-up class at a time that suits you.

What if my child is late?
Classes start on time, with a 5-minute grace period. If a student joins more than 15 minutes late, the class is counted as missed.
